A native of Park Falls, WI, Lieutenant Fox earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and received his commission through the university’s Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program.
Shortly after commissioning, he reported to Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) in Charleston, SC to begin the naval nuclear training pipeline. After graduating from NNPTC, he completed the Naval Nuclear Operator Course at Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU), Ballston Spa, NY and the Submarine Officer Basic Course (SOBC) in Groton, CT.
Lieutenant Fox reported aboard the nuclear fast attack submarine USS COLORADO (SSN-788) homeported in Groton, CT in January 2018. Shortly after reporting Lieutenant Fox participated in the ship’s Commissioning, Post Shakedown Availability and preparations for COLORADO’s first deployment. In February 2020, Lieutenant Fox completed a six-month EUCOM deployment which included several missions vital to national security. In May 2020 he qualified as Nuclear Engineer. While aboard COLORADO Lieutenant Fox served as Main Propulsion Assistant, Reactor Controls Assistant, Communications Officer, and Information Systems Security Manager.
Lieutenant Fox then reported to Destroyer Squadron Nine (CDS-9) located in Everett, WA in November 2020 for a Non-Traditional Shore Duty. At CDS-9 he served as Submarine Liaison, Command Legal Officer, and Public Affairs Officer.
Lieutenant Fox returned to his commissioning source, the University of Wisconsin – Madison Naval ROTC unit in May of 2022 to train future Naval and Marine Corps Officers.
His personal decorations include a Naval/Marine Corps Commendation Medal and three Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals.
