Captain Christopher Murdoch
Captain Murdoch, a native of Caseville, MI, graduated with high honors from Harvard College in 1987 with an A.B. in Economics and was designated a Naval Flight Officer in 1990.
Murdoch’s operational assignments include tours with Attack Squadron 85 (VA-85), Fighter Squadron 213 (VF-213), and Fighter Squadron 32 (VF-32). Murdoch commanded the Jolly Rogers of Strike Fighter Squadron 103 in 2007-08, holding the "Mutha" fighting spirit among other awards. From 2011-2013, CAPT Murdoch served as Deputy and then Commander of Carrier Air Wing TWO BROADSWORD. He served as the Battle Director at the Combined Air Operations Center in 2014. He has completed six operational deployments aboard USS America (CV 66), USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), USS Harry S Truman (CVN 75), USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN 69), and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). He has accumulated more than 4,000 flight hours and 1,000 carrier arrested landings.
Captain Murdoch’s shore assignments include Training Officer at Fighter Squadron 101 (VF-101) and Operations Officer for Strike Fighter Squadron 122 (VFA-122). He served as Aide to Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command. At U.S. Joint Forces Command, he served as a joint operations trainer and Team Chief on the J7 Deployable Training Team. Murdoch has completed the Naval War College Non-Resident Program, the U.S. Navy Strike Fighter Weapons School TOPGUN course, and the Navy Corporate Business Course at Kenan-Flagler. He holds an M.A. in International Security from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
Murdoch's personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), Air Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4) and other personal, campaign and service ribbons.
